Alternatives

Bend alternatives: five stretching apps worth comparing

The main Bend alternatives are STRETCHIT for instructor-led classes, Pliability for athletic mobility, GOWOD for assessment-driven CrossFit work, and Lucy for short routines with no streak. Which one fits depends on why Bend did not stick.

Start with why you are leaving

Bend is a good app and the default in this category. People who look for an alternative usually have one of four specific reasons, and the reason determines the answer.

  • You want an instructor rather than an illustration. Go to STRETCHIT.
  • You train, and you want mobility work built around that. Go to Pliability or GOWOD.
  • The streak is what made you stop. Go to Lucy, which is ours, so weigh that.
  • You want something smaller and faster. Also Lucy, same caveat.

If none of those describe you, Bend is probably still the right app and switching will not help.

What each one is actually better at

STRETCHIT

More than a hundred hours of instructor-led video, classes from five to forty-five minutes, new classes weekly. The right choice if you want to be taught rather than timed, and the right choice if you have a flexibility goal with a destination.

Better than Bend at: instruction, structured progression towards a goal. Worse at: quick weekday maintenance, and there is no free tier, just a trial.

Pliability

Formerly ROMWOD. More than 1,500 videos with new sessions daily, plus mobility tests and plans built from them. Aimed squarely at people who train.

Better than Bend at: library size, athletic specificity, assessment. Worse at: being a quick thing you do at a desk.

GOWOD

Assessment-first mobility built for the CrossFit world: it profiles your movement restrictions and programmes from that.

Better than Bend at: telling you what to work on rather than letting you choose. Worse at: being useful if you do not train.

Lucy

Ours, so discount accordingly. Sixteen routines, fifty-nine stretches, nothing longer than six minutes, iPhone only. No streak and no progress analytics: the progress screen counts the days you completed a routine and ignores the rest. No account at all, and it works fully offline. Three routines work standing in about a square metre.

Better than Bend at: being short, being offline, and not punishing a missed day. Worse at: library size, platform coverage, free content, and syncing across devices. Bend beats it on all four of those and we are not going to claim otherwise.

The honest reasons to stay with Bend

Worth a section, because a page like this usually does not have one.

Bend has an Android build. Lucy does not. STRETCHIT and Pliability do.

Bend's free tier is broader than Lucy's single free routine, so if free content is the criterion, switching costs you.

Bend has a routine builder and a large stretch library, which matters if variety is what keeps you opening an app.

And Bend's streak works for a lot of people. The case against it is not that it is badly built; it is that it is counterproductive for a particular kind of user. If you are not that user, it is a feature.

The one thing to check in any alternative

Whether the free content is a whole unit of the thing or a preview of it.

A free tier that gives you three stretches of an eight-stretch routine is a brochure. A free tier that gives you one complete routine, or a genuine time-limited trial of everything, tells you something useful about whether the app suits you.

Lucy's is one complete routine, forever, no account. Bend's is a selection of routines. STRETCHIT and Pliability are trials rather than ongoing free tiers. All four are legitimate; they are just different things.

What none of these do

All five are general fitness and wellness products. None provides medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and none is adapted to a specific injury or diagnosis. A mobility assessment inside an app is not a clinical assessment.

If you are stretching around an injury, a pregnancy or a diagnosed condition, a physiotherapist or doctor is the right first stop whichever one you pick. Our fitness and safety note sets out Lucy's position.

FAQ

What is the best alternative to Bend?

There is no single answer, because people leave Bend for different reasons. STRETCHIT if you want classes, Pliability or GOWOD if you train, Lucy if the streak or the session length was the problem.

Is there a free alternative to Bend?

Most apps in the category are free to download with paid tiers. Bend's own free tier is among the broader ones, so a free alternative is more likely to give you less rather than more. Lucy's free routine is complete but it is one of sixteen.

What is like Bend but without streaks?

Lucy, which is ours. It has no streak and no progress analytics, and the progress screen does not count missed days. It is smaller than Bend and iPhone only.

Is there a Bend alternative for Android?

STRETCHIT, Pliability and GOWOD all have Android builds. Lucy does not, so it is not an option if you are not on iPhone.

What is the best Bend alternative for desk workers?

Bend already targets desk workers well. If the issue is doing the routine in an office, the thing to compare is how many routines work standing without a mat: three of Lucy's sixteen do, which is the narrower but more specific answer.

Which Bend alternative has the most content?

Pliability, with more than 1,500 videos, followed by STRETCHIT with over a hundred hours of classes. Lucy is the smallest of the group by a wide margin and is deliberately so.

All details checked October 2026 against each publisher's own store listings and published material. Library sizes are as each publisher describes them. No ratings or review counts are reproduced for any app, including ours. Treat this as a prompt to check each listing rather than as current fact, since free tiers change often.

Lucy is a general wellness app. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Stretch within a comfortable range and stop anything that hurts. Fitness and safety.
